Our physicians are board certified dermatologist and our physician assistant has over 15 years of dermatology experience. In addition, our goal is to always offer outstanding dermatology care based on the latest research and therapies available.

Our office staff averages 18 years of experience working with us and this continuity of care and expertise is valued by us and patients. We do look forward to serving your dermatologic needs if these needs arise.

ABOUT US

Luella Churchwell, M.D.

Dr. Luella Churchwell practices all aspects of medical and surgical dermatology. She takes pride in listening to her patients to help solve their dermatological issues.

After graduating from Vanderbilt University with a B.S. in Molecular Biology she received her medical degree from the University of Tennessee. She then completed three years of internal medicine residency at the University of Tennessee and continued on to complete three years of dermatology residency at the University of Tennessee. She was chief resident her third year.

She is board certified by the American Academy of Dermatology and the American Board of Internal Medicine. Dr. Churchwell is a fellow of the American Academy of Dermatology and a member of the Tennessee Dermatology Society and American Medical Association.

Part of her dermatology awards and honors include a research grant from the National Alopecia Areata Foundation and a travel fellowship from the British Association of Dermatologists to a dermatology meeting in Bournemouth, England, for a presentation of her research. She was also awarded a scholarship to attend the 18th World Congress of Dermatology meeting for a research presentation.

Dr. Churchwell is married to Dr. Schneider and they have two children. Dr. Lu’s beloved sister, Mary Ashley, founded the practice and her love for dermatology and her kind, compassionate care to all carries forward. Dr. Luella Churchwell has two other sisters in Collierville who practice pediatric dentistry together.

Her extracurricular interests include tennis, sailing, basketball and racquetball. She also enjoys attending sporting events. She is also an avid reader and enjoys lifelong learning and spending time with family.

Michael Schneider, M.D.

Dr. Schneider specializes in medical and surgical dermatology and is board certified by the American Academy of Dermatology. After graduating from the University of Mississippi, he obtained his medical degree from the University of Tennessee, Memphis where he also trained as a Resident in Dermatology. Following his Chief Resident year he entered into private practice in 1992.

Dr. Schneider’s primary focus is providing excellent medical and surgical dermatologic care to his patients. In addition he enjoys teaching and has served on the staff of the University of Tennessee Health Sciences Center since 1993. He has been active in research and has served as a Principle Investigator in 15 Dermatology Studies. Active in many organizations, he is a past President of both the Memphis Dermatology Society and the Tennessee Dermatology Society. And is currently, once again President of the Tennessee Dermatology Society-2021-2022.

Dr. Schneider's additional volunteer work has been past service on the Lausanne Collegiate School Board for 9 years, including 3 years as Chair, and he is currently the Chair of the Farmington Presbyterian Day School Board.

His outside interests include travel with his family, travel to Chautauqua, New York, tennis and Orange Theory, as well as attending the Grizzles, Tigers, Ole Miss Games and the Orpheum.

Dr. Schneider is married to Dr. Luella Churchwell and they are the proud parents of a son and daughter.

Shelley N. Mulrooney, PA-C

Shelley is a Physician Assistant that specializes in medical Dermatology. She has been a practicing Dermatology Physician Assistant for the last 18 years. She has been certified by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA) since 2003.

She obtained her Bachelors Degree in Biology at California Polytechnic University in her home state and then attended Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine for her Masters in Physician Assistant Studies. She started out working at Stanford University in the Department of Dermatology treating patients in clinical trials for CTCL and Mycosis Fungoides patients, while also training in medical dermatology.

She then worked in Texas for several years in dermatology practices before moving to the Memphis area. She is a member of the American Academy of Physician Assistants (AAPA) as well as the Society of Dermatology Physician Assistants (SDPA).

She is married to her husband, Richard, and they have three children.
